Hinduism says that the death of a person may arrive when his Karmas have been settled. So when a person commits suicide, firstly, it's not a natural death and secondly, the Karma of the soul remains unfinished. This means that the purpose for which the soul was sent on earth wasn't fulfilled.

Hence, unlike other souls, he has to take more number of births one after another so that he can reach the same Karmic stage (number of fulfilled Karmas) that he was in before commiting suicide.
