I have always stood by a statement ever since I started understanding the concept of Indian Marriages. It is, like you said- if the girl leaves her family to live with that of her husband's', it is unfair. Equalizing both the genders, if one is leaving something they hold dear, the other one has to as well.

Even though this opinion stands highly unpopular, to me it makes all the sense in the world.
